THE LOW AND THE HIGH TIDE.

If you were by the sea, you would have noticed that the water level is changing.

Once a day you have to walk a bit longer to get to the water, and the beach is wider. That's great, because you can find beautiful shells, washed up by the waves.

And sometimes the water is very close and you wonder why your sandcastle is washed away, but it was still there a few hours ago and it was perfectly dry.

That's what the big people call the tides. The tide is when the water recedes and the water level is low. And at high tide, the water is high and covers part of the beach.

low tide

Why is it so?

Is there anyone playing with the water?

Maybe a giant who scoops the water in the middle of the sea with his huge bucket and then shovels it back into the sea?

The explanation for it is actually quite simple and you experience it yourself ...

while bathing in your bathtub.

But now back to the sea.

In seas and oceans, there are much more animals than on land. But we do not know how many exactly, as no one has ever counted them. Many of the creatures are also tiny.

But there are also living things that are incredibly big. They are the biggest living things on earth.

Do you know who they are?

It's the whales! They can be over 30 meters long - if you would stand up a whale, it would be taller than a 10-story building. Wow!

And they weigh up to 200 tons - that's as heavy as 40 elephants. That's almost as many as all the elephants living in ZOOs all over France.

The heart alone is as heavy as a small car and it weighs up to a ton! Of course, with such a big heart most of them are also very nice.

And even though they are so big, they also have to do all the things you need to do too: eat, drink, sleep, move, learn, play and bathe. And bathing explains the low and the high tide.

The huge whale daddies and the whale mommies but also their whale children have to bathe once a day. Well, like you, they do not always like it but to stay clean is important.

When they float on the water surface, the water on the beach is low and you can build a sandcastle, collect shells and your parents can sunbathe nicely.

My key takeaways:

1.   CONNECTING THINGS THAT SEEM NOT CONNECTED IS FUN.

2.  CONNECTING THINGS THAT SEEM NOT CONNECTED IS WHAT CHILDREN DO.

3.  PERCEIVING THE WORLD LIKE CHILDREN DO, IS THE ESIEST WAY TO UNLEARN.
